    Endothelial cells form the thin layer of cells lining the interior surface of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels, known as the endothelium. These cells play a crucial role in regulating blood flow, vascular tone, and the exchange of substances between the bloodstream and surrounding tissues. They are also involved in angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels) and maintaining vascular homeostasis.
