severe allergic reaction to medication causing rash and organ damage

Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) is a severe, potentially life-threatening hypersensitivity reaction to certain medications. It is characterized by a widespread skin rash, fever, swollen lymph nodes, and involvement of internal organs such as the liver, kidneys, and lungs. Eosinophilia, an elevated level of a type of white blood cell called eosinophils, is a hallmark of this condition. Early recognition and discontinuation of the offending drug are crucial for managing DRESS.
