    HIV-2, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 2, is a virus that causes a form of HIV infection, similar to but less common and generally less aggressive than HIV-1. It is primarily found in West Africa and is characterized by a slower progression to AIDS and lower transmission rates compared to HIV-1.
