    Glossary Auxin

plant hormone regulating growth and development

Auxin is a type of plant hormone that plays a crucial role in the growth and development of plants. It regulates processes such as cell elongation, root formation, and responses to light and gravity. For example, auxins help plants grow towards light by elongating the cells on the darker side of the plant, causing it to bend towards the light source.
