tricyclic antidepressant used for depression and chronic pain

Amitriptyline, also known by the brand name Elavil, is a tricyclic antidepressant commonly used to treat mental/mood disorders such as depression. It works by affecting the balance of certain natural chemicals (neurotransmitters like serotonin) in the brain, and it can also be prescribed for chronic pain management, migraines, and certain types of nerve pain.
