Adrenocortical Carcinoma (ACC), also known as Adrenal Cortex Cancer, is a rare and aggressive cancer that originates in the outer layer (cortex) of the adrenal glands, which are small glands located on top of each kidney. These glands produce hormones like cortisol, aldosterone, and androgens, which regulate various bodily functions. ACC can lead to an overproduction of these hormones, causing symptoms such as high blood pressure, weight gain, and hormonal imbalances. Early detection and treatment are crucial for improving outcomes.
