TLDR Zingiber junceum Gagnep. is now found in Vietnam and contains various bioactive compounds.
Zingiber junceum Gagnep. has been newly recorded in Vietnam, expanding its known range beyond Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. This study provides detailed descriptions of its micro-morphological traits and conducts phytochemical screening of its methanol and ethanol extracts. The rhizome and leaf shoot contain bioactive compounds such as tannin, flavonoid, alkaloid, phenolic, saponin, steroid, terpenoid, and coumarin, while the leaf and flower extracts contain similar compounds except for saponin. Both ethanol and methanol extracts from various parts of the plant show significant amounts of total triterpene, polyphenol, and flavonoid.
