TLDR Zinc deficiency in female rabbits causes poor health and reproductive issues.
Zinc deficiency in recently weaned female Tan rabbits, induced by a diet with 0.2 p.p.m. of zinc, led to reduced food consumption, weight loss, lowered haematocrit levels, frequent alopecia and dermatosis, and reproductive failure. Histological examination showed pale and inactive uteri, and ovaries with Graafian follicles but no corpora lutea despite repeated mating attempts.
