Wirkung von Testosteron auf Haut und Haare

    Daisy Kopera
TLDR Testosterone affects skin by increasing oil production and influences hair growth.
Testosterone, the primary androgen, was produced in varying amounts in both sexes starting from adrenarche, with production occurring in the testes for men, ovaries for women, and in small amounts in the adrenal glands for both. In the bloodstream, testosterone circulated either bound to SHBG or as free testosterone, exerting varying effects on different organs. It influenced the development of the male phenotype, muscle mass, bone density, and fat and sugar metabolism. Specifically, testosterone had a notable impact on the skin and its appendages by stimulating sebaceous glands, leading to seborrhea, and regulating hair growth.
