Evaluation of Serum Ferritin in Diffuse Hair Loss Among Females

The study investigated the relationship between serum ferritin levels and diffuse hair loss in females, involving 50 patients aged 18 to 60 with chronic diffuse hair loss. Despite the frequent occurrence of low serum ferritin in women, the research found no significant link between low ferritin levels and diffuse hair loss. Only 2% of the cases had serum ferritin levels within the recommended range, suggesting that while iron deficiency is common, it may not be a direct cause of hair loss in the studied population.
