Vitisin A Outperforms Cyanidin-3-O-Glucoside in Triglyceride Reduction by Modulating Hepatic Lipogenesis and Fatty Acid Beta-Oxidation

    This study shows that Vitisin A, a compound found in aged red wines, is more effective than Cyanidin-3-O-Glucoside (C3G) in reducing triglyceride levels by modulating hepatic lipogenesis and enhancing fatty acid β-oxidation. In vitro tests on HepG2 cells and in vivo tests on ApoE-/- mice demonstrated that Vitisin A significantly reduced triglyceride levels, body weight gain, and improved liver parameters. Vitisin A works by activating the AMPK/ACC signaling pathway, suppressing FASN expression, and upregulating enzymes like CPT-1A, enhancing mitochondrial and peroxisomal lipid oxidation. These findings suggest Vitisin A as a promising candidate for managing hypertriglyceridemia and related metabolic disorders.
