TLDR Vitamin D levels are not linked to alopecia areata.
This study investigated the association between vitamin D levels and alopecia areata (AA) by comparing 28 AA patients with 44 healthy controls. The results showed no statistically significant difference in vitamin D levels between the two groups after adjusting for gender. However, patients with nail involvement had lower vitamin D levels compared to those without nail involvement. No significant differences were found in vitamin D levels among patients with different patterns of hair loss. Overall, the study concluded that there was no association between AA and vitamin D levels after gender adjustment.
