Vitamins and minerals like vitamin E, zinc, and iron may aid hairgrowth, especially in cases of deficiency. Pumpkin seed oil, saw palmetto, horsetail, and AminoMar show some promise for improving hair health and count.
A user experienced significant hair regrowth after improving their diet, getting sunlight, taking a multivitamin, and exercising, following a period of extreme calorie restriction and hair shedding. Others in the conversation attribute the hair regrowth to increased calorie intake rather than just vitamins.
Oral biotin combined with topical minoxidil may increase hairgrowth rate, though the study was limited to healthy subjects and did not measure hair density. Some users report personal benefits from biotin, such as faster nail growth and healthier hair, but concerns about acne and study quality were also mentioned.
Vitamin D supplementation can aid hair regrowth for some, but results differ. Combining vitamin D with finasteride and minoxidil often improves hair thickness, though not for everyone.
