TLDR Vibration anesthesia effectively reduces pain during hair restoration surgery.
The study, conducted on 20 patients undergoing their first hair restoration surgery, found that the use of vibration anesthesia significantly reduced pain levels during supraorbital/supratrochlear nerve blocks. The mean pain score when vibration was used was 2.4, compared to 4.6 without vibration. Although smokers reported higher pain scores overall, vibration was effective in reducing pain for both smokers and non-smokers. All patients expressed a preference for the use of vibration in future procedures. The conclusion was that vibration anesthesia is an effective method for decreasing pain perception in patients during hair restoration surgery.
