TLDR Vaccination is crucial for psoriasis patients on immunosuppressive therapy to manage COVID-19 risks.
The review analyzed the impact of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign on psoriasis patients in Italy, particularly those on immunosuppressive therapy. It found that psoriasis patients were more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infections, and vaccination was crucial for this group. Although there were reports of temporary psoriasis exacerbation following vaccination, these were manageable. The Italian Ministry of Health recommended prompt vaccination for these "extremely frail" patients, emphasizing mRNA vaccines for their efficacy. The review also noted that immunosuppressive therapies might affect vaccine immunogenicity, suggesting vaccination before starting such treatments. Overall, the document stressed the importance of vaccination for managing psoriasis patients during the pandemic.
