TLDR Combining UV therapy with PRP heals chronic wounds faster and reduces pain.
The study investigated the effects of combining ultraviolet (UV) therapy with autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on chronic refractory wounds in 60 inpatients. Patients were divided into three groups: one receiving routine care, another receiving UV radiation, and the treatment group receiving both UV and PRP. The treatment group showed significantly better outcomes, with wounds healing in 25.25 ± 4.93 days and fewer dressing changes (4.15 ± 3.30 times) compared to the control groups. Additionally, the treatment group exhibited higher levels of growth factors, including a significant increase in vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), leading to accelerated wound healing, reduced treatment time and costs, and alleviated pain.
