TLDR Lower nitric oxide and higher fibrinogen found in hirsute women; impaired sexual function in 22.6% of hair loss patients, linked to psoriasis severity.
The first article investigates the relationship between insulin resistance, nitric oxide, and fibrinogen levels in white hirsute women with idiopathic hirsutism (IH). The study found that nitrite/nitrate concentration was significantly lower and fibrinogen plasma levels were meaningfully higher in the IH group, and that women with nonobese polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) had significantly higher basal insulin levels and HOMA scores than women with nonobese IH and controls. The second article explores the incidence of urinary symptoms in patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and whether there is a relationship between AGA and benign prostatic hyperplasia. The study found that impaired sexual function was reported by 22.6% of patients with AGA and was significantly associated with psoriasis severity, but treatment with anti-androgens (5-a reductase inhibitors) may lower the incidence of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
