TLDR Alopecia areata may be linked to heart issues.
The study investigated serum levels of cardiac troponin I in 82 patients, including 29 with alopecia areata, 30 with female pattern hair loss, and 23 healthy controls. Results showed that patients with alopecia areata had significantly higher levels of cardiac troponin I compared to both the female pattern hair loss group and the control group, suggesting a potential link between alopecia areata and subclinical myocardial injury. No significant difference in troponin I levels was found between the female pattern hair loss group and the control group. The findings indicated that clinicians should consider cardiovascular comorbidities when diagnosing alopecia areata.

There is no natural way to stop hair loss; pharmaceuticals like minoxidil, finasteride, and RU58841 are the only effective treatments. Some users report success with minoxidil and microneedling, while others discuss the side effects of finasteride.
