TLDR Trichostasis spinulosa mainly affects the nose, with many tiny hairs in one follicle, possibly influenced by hormones and sunlight.
The study examined 51 patients with trichostasis spinulosa, a condition characterized by lesions primarily on the nose, where up to 86 hairs were found in a single hair follicle. Histological analysis revealed compound hair follicles containing numerous vellus hairs and keratin-filled sebaceous glands. The researchers suggested that the condition might be influenced by endocrine factors and possibly actinic rays.
