Value of Trichoscopy Versus Trichogram for Diagnosis of Female Androgenetic Alopecia

TLDR Trichoscopy is better than trichogram for diagnosing early female hair loss.
In 2013, Galliker and Trüeb conducted a retrospective study comparing the effectiveness of trichoscopy and trichogram in diagnosing female androgenetic alopecia (FAGA) in 162 women. The study divided the participants into five groups: early FAGA, advanced FAGA, early and advanced FAGA in combination with telogen effluvium, and telogen effluvium. The results showed that trichoscopy was a more effective tool for diagnosing FAGA, particularly in early cases, compared to the trichogram. The authors recommended trichoscopy as a noninvasive method for early diagnosis and monitoring therapeutic response to hair loss.
