TLDR Trichoscopy is an effective, noninvasive method for early diagnosis of Female Pattern Hair Loss.
This study analyzed 110 female patients with Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL) using trichoscopy, a noninvasive diagnostic method. The patients' average age was 32.94 years, ranging from 18 to 52 years old, and most (57.27%) were in Ludwig's Stage I of hair loss. Trichoscopic features such as Hair Diameter Diversity (HDD), Brown Peripilar Sign (BPPS), White Peripilar Sign (WPPS), single hair per follicular unit, white dots, and honey-comb pigmentation were found to be significant in diagnosing FPHL. The study concluded that trichoscopy is a simple, cost-effective, and noninvasive tool for early diagnosis of FPHL and differentiation from other conditions like chronic Telogen Effluvium.
