TLDR Shaving, erythromycin cream, and clotrimazole powder effectively treated the bad odor and rough hair.
Trichomycosis axillaris, a common tropical disease affecting the hair shafts of the axillae, was described in a 38-year-old obese man who experienced bad axillary odor and roughened hair texture, worsening in summer due to profuse sweating. The condition, caused by Corynebacterium tenuis, was characterized by creamy yellow concretions along the hair shafts. Treatment involved shaving the affected hair and applying topical 3% erythromycin cream and clotrimazole powder, which effectively eliminated the odor within a couple of weeks. The condition is easily recognized by clinicians and can be managed with physical measures and topical treatments to prevent recurrence.
