TLDR A rare bacterial infection of pubic hair can cause strong genital odor, but trimming hair and using clindamycin can quickly fix it.
Trichobacteriosis pubis, a rare bacterial infection of the pubic hair caused by Coryneform Diphtheroids, can lead to genital bromhidrosis, significantly impacting a patient's quality of life and sexual health. A 30-year-old man with this condition experienced malodour for 6 months, which was resolved by trimming the pubic hair and applying topical clindamycin 1% solution twice daily. The diagnosis was confirmed through clinical examination, Wood’s lamp, trichoscopy, and microscopy. Effective management of trichobacteriosis pubis not only eliminates the malodour but also improves confidence and sexual health.
