TLDR Large corneum layer cells can cover wounds effectively.
The study investigated the transplantation of keratinocyte spore-like stem cells to cover wound surfaces. Researchers isolated large cells from the stratum corneum and spinosum of human leg skin, dehydrated them with pulverized sodium chloride, and transplanted them onto scid mice wound surfaces. Results showed that only large corneum layer cells remained viable and were able to cover the central part of the wound, forming one or two layers. These findings suggested that the cells might represent a distinct population of large corneal stem cells, with further studies needed to determine their exact phenotype and proliferative capacity.
