TLDR Low zinc and copper levels may indicate Telogen Effluvium.
The study investigated the role of trace elements, specifically zinc and copper, in diagnosing Telogen Effluvium (TE) in women aged 15 to 45. Blood samples from patients and controls were analyzed for serum zinc and copper levels. The results showed that patients with TE had significantly lower levels of serum zinc (38.6±30.62) and copper (105.45±49.95) compared to controls (zinc: 61.97±27.70, copper: 122.28±8.39), with p-values of 0.001 and 0.032, respectively. The findings suggested that reduced levels of these trace elements could be indicative of TE, warranting further randomized controlled trials.
