TLDR Dogs with sarcoptic mange may have altered thyroid function and blood changes.
In this study, 16 dogs with sarcoptic mange exhibited symptoms such as intense itching, hair loss, and reddened skin, with lesions primarily on the ears, elbows, face, and legs. Haematological changes included reduced erythrocyte count and hemoglobin levels, along with leukocytosis, neutrophilia, eosinophilia, and monocytosis. Biochemical analysis showed decreased total serum protein and serum albumin levels compared to healthy dogs. Additionally, the affected dogs had reduced total T4 (2.32±0.25 µg/dL) and free T4 (1.37±0.04 ng/dL) levels, indicating potential thyroid function alterations associated with the condition.
