TLDR Ruby laser hair removal significantly reduces hair density.
A study conducted over 18 months on 116 patients (175 sites) demonstrated that using a ruby laser for hair removal resulted in a significant reduction in hair density by 56.4% after an average of 1.92 treatments. The laser targets melanin in the hair, causing photothermal damage to the hair and surrounding cells to prevent regrowth. The results, measured by hair counts, showed a highly significant reduction in hair density (P < 0.00001), making laser hair removal a viable treatment option.
