TLDR Vitamin D may help reduce antibody levels in men with autoimmune thyroiditis and early-onset androgenic alopecia, but has no significant impact on thyroid function.
A study of 67 young men, 25 of whom had early-onset androgenic alopecia, found that exogenous vitamin D supplementation did not have a significant impact on thyroid autoimmunity or thyroid function in euthyroid men with autoimmune thyroiditis and early-onset androgenic alopecia. However, vitamin D may have a positive impact on reducing antibody levels in men with autoimmune thyroiditis and early-onset androgenic alopecia, but the effect is more significant in those without alopecia. Additionally, vitamin D increased SPINA-GT only in those with alopecia. The study suggests that men with early-onset androgenic alopecia and male siblings of women with PCOS have lower levels of vitamin D, and women with PCOS have a higher prevalence of autoimmune thyroiditis and elevated thyroid antibodies.
