TLDR Seborrheic dermatitis is more common in middle-aged men and worsens in winter.
This study analyzed 2,656 patients with seborrheic dermatitis at a dermatology clinic in Istanbul over a 5-year period. The findings indicated that seborrheic dermatitis was more prevalent in middle-aged adults, particularly affecting men more than women. The condition was most common in the 20-30 age group. Seasonal variation was observed, with the highest number of cases reported in winter (31%) and the lowest in summer (17%). The study concluded that seborrheic dermatitis is a common, multifactorial skin disease, and suggested that future population-based studies should explore other triggering factors to better understand the seasonal patterns observed.
