TLDR Dexpanthenol may help treat epilepsy and depression.
The study investigated the effects of dexpanthenol on epilepsy and depression in female Swiss albino mice. Dexpanthenol, commonly used as a topical medication, was tested for its potential antiepileptic and antidepressant-like effects. Mice were injected with dexpanthenol or saline, and their responses to induced convulsions and immobility in a forced swim test were observed. The results indicated that dexpanthenol at a dose of 500 mg/kg exhibited significant antiepileptic and antidepressant-like effects without impacting motor coordination. This suggested that dexpanthenol, a low-cost and widely used drug, could have potential therapeutic benefits for epilepsy and depression.
