TLDR Testosterone levels don't predict acne severity in adult women.
The study investigated the correlation between serum testosterone levels and acne severity in 51 adult female patients with acne. The mean serum testosterone level was 42.30 ± 15.71 ng/dl, and none of the participants had levels outside the normal range. The results showed no significant correlation between serum testosterone levels and acne severity, as measured by the Adult Female Acne Scoring Tool (AFAST). The study concluded that serum testosterone levels are not a reliable marker of androgen excess in adult females with acne. However, the findings should be interpreted cautiously due to the small sample size and lack of a control group.
