Studysummary In this study, testosterone and finasteride were found to increase insulin and zinc levels while decreasing chromium levels in male adult rats, suggesting potential effects on the glucose cycle. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
This study investigated the effects of testosterone, finasteride, and castration on serum levels of trace elements (zinc and chromium) and insulin in male adult rats. The results showed that testosterone and finasteride increased insulin and zinc levels and decreased chromium levels in the serum of male adult rats. The study suggests that testosterone affects the glucose cycle through its effect on serum levels of insulin and trace elements such as zinc and chromium.
