TLDR Contact dermatitis treatment for alopecia areata can lead to temporary hair loss.
The study evaluated a neonatal screening program for congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) in Minas Gerais, Brazil, involving 159,415 newborns. It found that adjusting 17-hydroxyprogesterone (17OHP) cut-off values based on birth weight significantly reduced false positives by 76%, enhancing the program's cost-effectiveness and reducing unnecessary medical consultations. The incidence of CAH was 1:19,939, with a sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 99.6%. The findings supported the inclusion of CAH in the National Neonatal Screening Program and suggested potential expansion to other regions, highlighting the importance of accurate birth weight data to improve screening accuracy and reduce parental stress.
