Telogen Effluvium, Beau's Lines, and Acral Peeling Associated with COVID-19 Infection

    A 41-year-old woman experienced telogen effluvium, Beau's lines, and acral peeling as a result of a COVID-19 infection. Initially presenting with COVID-19 symptoms in April 2020 but not tested for the virus, she later confirmed past infection through a COVID-19 IgG antibody test after noticing hair and skin changes two months post-symptoms. By August 2020, she developed Beau's lines, and by December 2020, her dermatological symptoms had improved or resolved without treatment, with no recurrence by April 2021. The document highlights the potential for COVID-19 to disrupt keratinocyte, hair follicle, and nail keratin growth, causing such dermatological issues, and underscores the significance of recognizing these cutaneous signs as potential sole indicators of COVID-19 infection.
