TLDR TB lymphadenitis can occur in people with SLE on long-term immunosuppressive therapy.
This case report describes a 21-year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who developed tuberculous lymphadenitis, presenting with a neck lump, fever, weight loss, joint pain, hair loss, and sun sensitivity. Diagnosis was confirmed via fine-needle aspiration biopsy, and after 9 months of antituberculosis treatment, the lump reduced significantly, and the patient had no further complaints. The report underscores the increased risk of tuberculosis in SLE patients due to immunosuppressive therapy and the importance of considering TB in such patients with persistent infections.
