TLDR Adding 0.2% taurine to Angora rabbits' diet improves wool production and overall health.
The study evaluated the effects of dietary taurine supplementation on 160 Angora rabbits over 73 days, dividing them into four groups with different taurine levels (0%, 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3%). Results showed that taurine improved feed consumption, hair follicle density, and wool yield, with 0.2% taurine being the most effective. Taurine also reduced serum total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein levels, enhanced antioxidant capacity, and increased thyroid hormone (T4) and insulin-like growth factor-1 levels. Overall, taurine supplementation improved lipid metabolism, antioxidant capacity, and hormone levels, suggesting its practical application in rabbit husbandry.
