TLDR Symptom experience doesn't affect medication compliance in liver transplant patients.
This study assessed the symptom experience and its relationship with medication non-compliance in 123 clinically stable adult liver transplant patients. Using the "Modified Transplant Symptom Occurrence and Symptom Distress Scale," the study found that increased hair growth was the most frequent symptom for both sexes. Women reported more serious symptom distress than men, with excessive and/or painful periods being the most distressing symptom for women, and impotence for men. The study divided patients into short-term (1–4 years) and long-term (5–18 years) cohorts, revealing differences in symptom occurrence and distress between these groups and sexes. However, no relationship was found between symptom experience and prednisolone non-compliance.
