TLDR The supplements improved hair density and reduced hair loss.
This study investigated the effects of an oral supplement containing L-Cystine, Serenoa repens, Pumpkin seed oil, Pygeum africanum, vitamins, and micronutrients on hair growth in 80 patients with Chronic Telogen Effluvium or Androgenetic Alopecia. Over a 6-month period, participants received either the supplement or a placebo. Results showed a statistically significant increase in the number of total hairs per cm², with an increase of 9.9 hairs/cm² after 3 months and 12.3 hairs/cm² after 6 months compared to the placebo. Improvements in overall hair volume and appearance were also noted. The supplement was well-tolerated, similar to the placebo. A limitation of the study was the lack of control over factors influencing the anagen phase.
