TLDR Acne and excess hair are common in women with PCOS, and skin checks can help diagnose it early.
This study investigated the prevalence and pattern of skin manifestations in 50 women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) at a hospital in North Bihar. The findings revealed that acne (80%) and hirsutism (64%) were the most common skin issues, with a significant link between higher BMI and the presence of acanthosis nigricans and hirsutism. The study suggests that these dermatological signs can be early indicators of PCOS, highlighting the importance of routine skin screenings and weight management in affected women to aid in early diagnosis and treatment.
