The study investigated the formation of stem cells using fibroblast spheres derived from mesenchymal cells extracted from the skin of newborn C57BL/6J mice. These cell spheres were cultured in serum-free medium on non-adhesive dishes and remained viable for several months, suggesting a hibernation-like state. Genetic and immunohistological analyses revealed that markers related to hair follicle regeneration and the hair cycle, such as Wnt, as well as undifferentiated markers like Sox-2, Oct-4, CD133, and cxcr4, were upregulated in the cell spheres. However, the distribution of these markers was uneven, indicating a need for further investigation to determine whether this was due to changes in specific cell characteristics or selective cell processes.
