TLDR Skin ultrasonography and MRI have advanced, improving cancer treatment and cosmetic procedures.
This review highlights the advancements in skin ultrasonography and magnetic resonance, emphasizing the significant contributions of the journal's editors and editorial board to these fields. High-frequency skin ultrasonography (HFUS) has evolved to include Doppler modes and advanced imaging capabilities, proving effective in guiding treatments like superficial radiation therapy (SRT) with a 99.3% cure rate for skin cancers in a study of 2,917 patients. HFUS also aids in cosmetic procedures by visualizing blood vessels and ensuring precise filler injections. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is now used to assess tumor depth, monitor therapy responses, and evaluate conditions like scalp alopecia. The development of portable MRI machines and new applications, such as the investigational "oncomagnetic helmet" for glioblastoma treatment, demonstrate the expanding role of these technologies in dermatology and oncology.
