Pattern of Skin Disease in Hail Region of Saudi Arabia

    TLDR The most common skin diseases in Hail, Saudi Arabia, are eczema and acne, with more women affected than men.
    In a retrospective study at King Khalid Hospital in Hail, Saudi Arabia, involving 13,778 dermatology patients over a 5-year period, the most common skin diseases were eczema (37%), acne (20%), alopecia (8%), vitiligo (7%), viral warts (7%), and psoriasis (4%). The study found a higher prevalence of skin diseases among female patients (60%) compared to male patients (40%) and noted an increase in the prevalence of acne and eczema from previous studies. Factors such as genetics, social and hygienic standards, nutrition, age, climate, and industrialization were suggested to influence the prevalence of these conditions. The authors called for better record-keeping to enhance research and data accuracy.
