TLDR A woman with Sheehan syndrome improved with hormone treatment.
A 52-year-old female with symptoms of easy fatigability, asthenia, loss of appetite, alopecia, hypotension, hypoglycaemia, and a history of lactation failure and premature menopause was diagnosed with Sheehan syndrome, a rare condition following postpartum hemorrhage that leads to pituitary necrosis and panhypopituitarism. The patient's hormone profile indicated panhypopituitarism, and MRI showed a partially empty sella, while an echocardiogram revealed dilated cardiomyopathy with an ejection fraction of 35%. After starting treatment with injectable hydrocortisone and thyroid hormone supplementation, the patient showed improvement. This case highlights the importance of considering Sheehan syndrome in patients with similar presentations, as it is treatable with hormone replacement therapy.
