Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin and Androgen Levels in Women with Androgenetic Alopecia

TLDR The T/SHBG ratio may be a useful marker for androgen activity in women with androgenetic alopecia.
The study investigated the relationship between androgen levels, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), and androgenetic alopecia in 58 women. It aimed to determine if the testosterone/SHBG (T/SHBG) ratio could indicate increased androgen action in these women. Despite previous contradictory findings regarding plasma androgen levels and alopecia, this study focused on the T/SHBG ratio as a potentially reliable marker for androgen activity in the context of female androgenetic alopecia.
