TLDR Young women with nonclassic congenital adrenal hyperplasia may experience worse sexual function and mild depression compared to healthy women.
The study examined sexual function and depressive symptoms in 24 young women with nonclassic congenital adrenal hyperplasia (NC-CAH) compared to 24 healthy women. It found that those with NC-CAH had higher androgen levels, increased hirsutism scores, lower Female Sexual Function Index scores, and higher Beck Depression Inventory scores, indicating impaired sexual function and mild depressive symptoms. These symptoms were correlated with hirsutism and testosterone levels. The study concluded that NC-CAH is associated with these issues, although it acknowledged limitations such as a small sample size and the need for more accurate androgen level measurements.
