TLDR A patient's hair loss after a browlift surgery improved on its own over 8 months.
In a 2017 case report, a 74-year-old female patient developed severe diffuse telogen effluvium (TE), a form of hair loss, after undergoing an endoscopic browlift procedure. The condition, which resulted in about 50% scalp hair loss, was accompanied by contact dermatitis. Initial treatments with clobetasol were ineffective, but the patient's hair density naturally recovered over 8 months without further intervention. The authors noted that TE is often self-limiting and can be managed with reassurance and expectant management, and they suggested that surgical technique modifications might prevent TE. The report underlined the need for cosmetic surgeons to recognize TE as a potential postoperative complication.
