TLDR A man developed severe skin reactions after using a treatment for hair loss.
A 19-year-old Japanese man with an 11-year history of alopecia universalis developed acute contact dermatitis and severe dermographism after the first application of a 0.003% diphenylcyclopropenone (DPCP) solution. Despite significant improvement in urticarial response over 3 months, erythematous reactions persisted. This case highlighted the need for caution when using potent sensitizers like DPCP in treatment.
