TLDR People with severe acne tend to have higher levels of betatrophin.
The study, conducted in 2020, investigated the serum level of betatrophin protein in 80 participants, divided into two groups: 60 patients with acne vulgaris (Group A) and 20 healthy individuals (Group B). The results showed that higher betatrophin levels were significantly associated with increased severity of acne vulgaris, male gender, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOD), hirsutism, and androgenetic alopecia. The betatrophin level in the acne vulgaris group was significantly higher compared to the control group. The study concluded that betatrophin level could be an independent predictor of acne vulgaris susceptibility and severity.
