TLDR People with psoriasis have higher levels of Apelin-13 in their blood than healthy people.
The study "Evaluation of Serum Apelin-13 in Psoriasis Vulgaris Patients" conducted by EM. Akl, N.A. Abdalhafeez, and S.M. Nageeb in 2019 investigated the potential relationship between the adipokine Apelin-13 and psoriasis, a chronic, T-cell mediated inflammatory skin disease. The researchers measured serum Apelin-13 in 60 patients with moderate to severe psoriasis vulgaris and 30 healthy controls using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results showed that serum levels of Apelin-13 were higher in patients with psoriasis vulgaris compared to the healthy controls. This suggests a potential link between Apelin-13 and psoriasis, possibly due to Apelin-13's role in T-cell immunity.
