TLDR Sertraline can cause hair loss, which stops after stopping the drug.
A 21-year-old male experienced diffuse hair loss within 2 weeks of starting sertraline at 50 mg/day, which resolved after discontinuing the drug. Extensive tests ruled out other causes. The case highlighted the rare occurrence of SSRI-induced alopecia and called for further large-scale studies to understand its prevalence and mechanisms.
